Juniors v Ardagh – Match Report
Davitts Junior’s hosted Ardagh on Sunday in Div 4 of the Senior League an, after a cracking game played in perfect conditions, the visitors came away with the league points with a 2-12 to 1-14 win.
Ardagh led by 1-6 to 0-7 at halftime, their goal coming from a defensive mix up, after a well contested first half. Liam Kearns (0-5), Aidan McTigue (0-1) and Liam Macken (0-1) were Davitts scorers in that half.
Ardagh stretched their lead to four points but a Liam Kearns point, and a converted penalty by the same player, after Davitts midfielder William Freeley was taken down in the box, left the teams all square with twenty minutes remaining. Padraig Mangan gave Davitts the lead a minute later but Ardagh responded with a goal to restore their lead.
The teams traded scores for the remainder of the match.
Some fine Davitts points from Michael Waldron (2), Liam Noone and Liam Kearns (2) before the end had Ardagh hanging on to the lead but they held out for a hard earned win.
