Juniors v Ardagh – Match Report
Davitts Junior’s were defeated by 2-10 to 0-7 in wet and miserable conditions in Ardagh on Sunday. On a day which suited the more robust players, Davitts battled well, especially in the second half.
Davitts had trailed by 1-8 to 0-3 at the break with Thomas Waldron and Matthew Trench (2) getting the scores. Ardagh might have been further ahead at halftime but for some excellent goalkeeping by David Mitchell in that first half.
Davitts inability to capitalise on having the lions share of the second half possession cost them. Matthew Trench (3) and Thomas Waldron got the second half scores. A second Ardagh goal, after a shocking call from a hometown linesman, killed off the Davitts challenge. The players fought hard right up to the final whistle.
