Juniors through to Junior B Championship semi-final
Davitts Junior team qualified for the semi-final of the Mayo Junior B Championship with a hard fought victory over Moy Davitts in Ballyhaunis on Friday evening. Davitts won by 2-11 to 2-6 at the end of a well contested affair. Davitts made all the early running and were winning by 0-8 to 0-1 when Moy Davitts narrowed the gap to three points before the break with a goal and a point.
With the halftime margin only three points the Davitts team upped the ante in the second half, and two cleverly taken goal chances by Davitts outstanding full forward Clive Hennigan sealed the victory.
Davitts had stars all over the field, the man of the match award could have gone to any member of an excellent fullbackline comprising of Brian Clarke, Cathal Higgins or the superb Donal Ronayne.
Johnno Clarke was excellent at midfield while upfront team captain Seamus Roche led by example with Andrew Peters and Richie Kilkenny also on top of their game.
