Juniors qualify for County B Final
Davitts Junior team qualified for the County Junior B Final, defeating a gallant Breaffy outfit by 1-8 to 1-7 after a titanic struggle in McHale Park on Saturday evening. Team captain Seamus Roche was the hero of the day scoring the winner with seconds left on the clock after a great move involving Mark Ronayne, Johnno Clarke, Andrew Peters, Thomas Waldron, Liam Noone and Richie Kilkenny.
Breaffy had led by 0-5 to 0-1 at the break, after playing with the stiff breeze, and looked the likely winners at half time.
Davitts came out with all guns blazing for the second half and substitute Liam Noone appeared to have turned the game around with a superb individual goal seconds after his introduction in the 10th minute and with Andrew Peters running riot at this stage, it looked like Davitts were home and hosed but Breaffy hadn’t read the script. They replied with a great goal but points by Clive Hennigan and Johnno Clarke put Davitts back in the driver’s seat. Breaffy converted a handy free in to tie the game with the seconds ticking down but Davitts responded admirably and scored the winning point with the last kick of the game.
All of the Davitts backs were tremendous in this game with Mark Ronayne having a blinder, and Johnno Clarke, Seamus Roche, Andrew Peters, Liam Noone and Thomas Waldron were also on top of their game as Davitts reached another County Final.
