Juniors lose to Westport in first round of League
Davitts second team were defeated by Westport, 1-11 to 1-5, in the opening round of the senior league, in a game played in glorious conditions on Sunday in Ballindine. Westport started brightly and had six points on the board before Davitts star player Con Penny pointed in the 18th minute. A superb goal by the impressive Darren Connolly was followed by another Penny point to leave the halftime score 0-7 to 1-2 in favour of the visitors. A Westport goal midway through the second half sealed their victory in what was an entertaining match for the large attendance. Best for Davitts were Mark Ronayne, Martin Cosgrove, Michael Ronayne, Michael Waldron, Kieran Mooney and Darren Connolly.
