Davitts Juniors withstood a strong second half comeback from Ballinrobe to win their South Mayo Championship clash by five points. The game was played in Ballinrobe with the wind proving to be influential.
Davitts played with the wind in the first half and had built up a 2-8 to 0-4 lead by halftime. Liam Kearns and Aidan Macken struck the two goals with Jack Melvin (4), Ryan McLoughlin (3) and Cathal Corless shooting the points.
Ballinrobe chipped away at the lead in the second half and limited Davitts to a single Jack Melvin point, but they were unable to breach the tight marking Davitts defence for a goal.
Davitts had fine performances from Jordan Flanagan, Micheal Hett, Aidan Macken, Cathal and Danny Corless, Liam Kearns, Jack Melvin and Ryan McLoughlin.
