Junior League v Breaffy match report
Davitts 2-13 Breaffy 2-10
After two narrow defeats in the Div 5 League, Davitts Juniors had a welcome victory over Breaffy in Ballindine on Sunday. The game was played in ideal conditions and both sides played some very good football in what was an entertaining match.
Davitts led by 1-7 to 1-4 at halftime, Brian Clarke firing home a good goal in the 13th minute and the points scored by Danny Corless, Brian Clarke, Jack Devane (3), Jack Trench and Ryan McLoughlin.
Davitts started the second half brightly with points from Danny Corless and Padraig Mangan (2). Breaffy pulled one back before the second water break. Two Davitts points in the 47th minute by Danny Corless and Brian Clarke extended their lead to seven points and Jack Devane added to this with a super point from distance in the 51st minute.
Breaffy replied with four points of their own before Aidan Macken got on the end of a great move to goal for Davitts in the 60th minute. Breaffy refused to lie down and a point a minute later followed by a goal deep into stoppage time saw Davitts lead reduced to three points before referee Vinnie Joyce, who had a fine game, blew the fulltime whistle.
Davitts had fine displays from Charlie Phillips, Tom Corless, Tomas Ronayne, Padraig Mangan, Shane Mitchell, Brian Clarke, Danny Corless and Jack Devane.
