Gaeil na Daibhéidí
Davitts u-14 and u-16 age groups have recently formed a co-operation with Mayo Gaels.
A co-operation is when two clubs come together in a particular age group for a temporary period of time. We do not have enough numbers in those two grades to be able to field a team on our own. The Bord na nÓg have worked hard to find the best solution to this problem, ensuring that what is best for the children comes first. They met with parents and looked if there was any club in the area that might be in a similar situation as ourselves. When Mayo Gaels became an option, Paul Carey and Kevin Cullina met with the managers and committee who decided that this could be an ideal fit. After encouraging meetings with Mayo Gaels, both clubs felt that the co-operation should be mutually beneficial.
What does this mean for the children in those age groups? They are still members of Davitts GAA Club and Mayo Gaels GAA Club and they can still play in other age groups for Davitts or Mayo Gaels (if eligible). As previously stated the co-operation is not a permanent transfer.
Our new name in those two age groups will be Gaeil Na Daibhéidí. We are looking forward to an exciting season.
