A superb defensive performance and an excellent display of forward play by Davitts captain Michael Conroy ensured that table toppers Islandeady left Ballindine emptyhanded, after this senior league Div 1B game, on Saturday evening. Davitts led by 0-6 to 0-2 at the break, five points from Conroy and a fine Carlos O Gara point accounting for their tally with Vinny Feeney and Shane Heraty replying for Islandeady. The visitors had more of the ball in the second half, through the efforts of midfielders Peter Collins and Ollie Feeney, but found the entire Davitts defence in an uncompromising mood, typified by the outstanding James Cummins and Colm Boyle. Conroy had two points on the board early in the second half and Islandeady replied with points from Ollie Feeney and Brian McCormack. The very lively Carlos O Gara and Vinnie Feeney traded points and Conroy sealed the win with two more lovely points in the closing minutes.
As well as those mentioned Davitts had great displays from Frankie Barrett, Kevin Gallagher, Pat Coyne, Paul Carey and Fergal McGrath.
