Davitts set for County final showdown with Burrishoole
Davitts qualified for the Mayo Intermediate Championship final on Sunday, defeating a gallant Parke side by 1-12 to 0-12 in McHale Park. Davitts started brightly and a Michael Conroy goal, after twelve minutes, following great work by James Cummins and Colm Boyle, proved to be the game’s crucial score. Davits led by 1-6 to 0-4 at half time and had extended their lead to 1-12 to 0-6 with fifteen minutes remaining, and looked set for an easy victory. Parke, to their credit, fought back and scored the last six points of the game, completely dominating in the final quarter.
Davitts, while delighted to have qualified for the final, will know that a major improvement will be required to have any chance against Burrishoole in the final on October 16th.
Best for Davitts were Mark Diskin (pictured), Colm Roche, James Cummins, the outstanding Colm Boyle, Paul Carey, Keith Prendergast, Aidan McTigue and Parke’s tormenter-in-chief, Michael Conroy.
