Dinner Dance review

Davitts GAA Club celebrated another successful year, at their well attended Dinner Dance held in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris on Friday night. Ollie Turner of Galway Bay FM was a polished, entertaining and very professional MC for the night while legendary DJ, PJ Barrett supplied the music.

The minor and U-21 squads were presented with their County winners medals while the Senior squad received their All-Ireland Intermediate runners up medals.

Josh Ronayne (U-21), Seamus Roche (Junior) and Colm Roche (Senior) received Player of the Year awards. Liam Nyland received the Club Person of the year in appreciation for the wonderful work he does for the club. The biggest cheer of the night went to Kathleen Kearns on her deserved induction to the Club’s Hall Of Fame.

Liam Griffin yet again proved to be the Lord Of The Dance, with his stiffest competition coming from Billy Freeley, Liam Kearns and up and coming star John Huane. Due to injury at dance practise, Tommy Waldron Senior was unable to participate while Frank Hyland and Ken Egan couldn’t be separated in their Dance- Off.

In the female section, Patricia Hennigan’s hours of practise paid off, as she retained her title with Olive Diskin, Mary Mangan, Celia Griffin and Darina Daly also deserving a mention for their efforts.
